EU PRIVACY DATA PROTECTION ATTORNEYS to work as “on-demand” in-house legal counsels for clients of Ilenomia-Legal

ILENOMIA-LEGAL is the “uberization” of legal services. Via a revolutionary global business platform, we offer cost-effective on-demand in-house legal services on an external basis through experienced independent legal professionals. We are currently looking for experienced, qualified highly motivated privacy/data protection commercial lawyers to support our clients’ in-house legal teams on an independent contractor basis.

The Role
The role involves providing Ilenomia Clients legal advice on privacy, data security and information management, and implementing all necessary policies, procedures and measures to comply with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection regulations in Europe.  This includes providing strategic counsel on our clients’ customer and employee data practices and policies, vendor and technology agreements and, where applicable, the clients’ e-commerce, mobile and omni-channel strategies.

Key Responsibilities
In view of ensuring company’s compliance with GDPR and other applicable privacy and data protection laws:

  • Reviewing the client’s existing practice for the collection, use and transfers of user data and advising on necessary changes that need to be implemented.
  • Reviewing and updating company’s existing data protection policies, processes, guidelines and privacy statements.
  • Developing a privacy and data protection program within an established compliance framework, in coordination with other compliance and operational assessment functions and external experts.
  • Overseeing the intersection of privacy and data security in collaboration with the clients’ information security team.
  • Counseling business teams on privacy implications for new products and features, and where applicable, in the areas of cloud based applications, online advertising, mobile, social networking, email, SMS/text, and telephone marketing and other communications, spyware, adware, affiliate marketing, location-based services, tracking technologies, etc.
  • Advising on compliance and best practices across all aspects of global privacy and data protection law and regulation, including consumer data use and sharing, behavioral advertising and analytics, data retention, data security and data breaches.
  • Advising on potential business impact of new EU privacy and data security laws and regulations.
  • Providing strategic advice to client’s Legal, HR, commercial and information security teams on a wide range of data protection and other global privacy matters, including developing and delivering training.
  • Developing and implementing the clients’ data incident response plan.

The Candidate
We are seeking several experienced privacy and data protection commercial lawyers.

  • You are licensed to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction having min 5 years PQE, last 2 of which have been focused primarily on privacy and data protection acquired either at a major international law firm or in-house legal department of a multinational company.
  • You have a law degree from an accredited European University
  • You must have strong experience in building and implementing corporate privacy and data security programs.
  • You will need to operate effectively at all levels and juggle a variety of complex tasks, displaying strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • You must be able to work on your own initiative and be willing to pick up any privacy and/or data protection-related project that’s thrown at you with a smile.
  • English fluency is mandatory; working knowledge of other European languages a plus.
  • Experience with online, mobile, social networking and digital technology issues desirable but not essential.
  • Technical/systems background a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Flexible and a positive attitude.

Terms
The successful candidates will be engaged as independent contractors on a project basis and will be remunerated at competitive rates, commensurate with their relevant background and experience level. While some of the work may be done from home, the successful candidates must be able to travel and work within the European Union for the duration of the relevant project at Ilenomia clients’ on-site location, as needed.  The duration of each project will vary according to the complexity and scope of the relevant privacy and data protection program required by the relevant Ilenomia client. Given the high demand for this type of role by Ilenomia clients, this role can be converted into a full-time contract role, depending on the candidate’s availability and Ilenomia client needs work at the time.

EU REGULATORY INVESTIGATION ATTORNEYS

EU REGULATORY INVESTIGATION ATTORNEYS (Junior, Middle and Senior level) to work on high-profile regulatory investigations as “on-demand” in-house legal counsels for multinationals

Via a revolutionary global business platform, we offer cost-effective on-demand in-house legal services on an external basis through experienced independent legal professionals (www.ilenomia.com).  We are currently seeking qualified, highly motivated, legal professionals of all levels (Junior, Mid-level and Senior) with regulatory compliance and investigations experience to support our clients’ in-house legal teams on various investigation projects (the “Investigation(s)”), on an independent contractor basis.

The Role
This exciting opportunity will see successful candidates work with multinational corporations in major European cities to assist our clients’ in-house teams on large-scale regulatory Investigations. The ideal candidates will have experience conducting complex investigations concerning regulatory issues, civil matters and/or potential criminal matters.  The ideal candidates will also have the necessary experience and skills to manage the internal logistics and develop an effective strategy of discovery from start to finish.  The level of intervention will be aligned with experience level of the attorneys.

Key Responsibilities shall include:

  • Reviewing a significant amount of internal documentation/communications relating to our client’s regulatory Investigation.
  • Accessing and assessing a client’s electronically stored information (“ESI”), ensuring compliance with applicable laws regarding ESI.
  • Assisting in the collection, processing, review, analysis, and production of ESI.
  • Serving as a key liaison between internal legal team, external counsel, IT personnel, relevant vendors and records management associates, as necessary.
  • Drafting summaries of documents and reports relating to the Investigation.
  • Assisting our client’s in-house legal team in answering questions from regulators relating to the Investigation and related compliance matters.
  • Assisting our client’s in-house legal team to engage with the relevant government, industry, and other interested parties relating to the Investigation.
  • Overseeing internal implementations of legal and regulatory requirements imposed by regulatory bodies.
  • Assisting our client’s legal team to develop short and long-term strategies to manage regulatory challenges.
  • Ensuring our client’s senior legal management is fully briefed on major issues identified.
  • Coordinating with responsible business units and counterparts in the legal departments in the jurisdictions subject to the Investigation (e.g., EU, US, etc.)
  • Supporting our client’s legal team with all other legal aspects relating to the Investigation.

The Candidates
We are seeking a team of lawyers (junior, mid-level and senior) with experience handling EU regulatory investigations.

  • Junior level positions: You are licensed to practice law in any European jurisdiction having min 3 years PQE, last 1 of which include regulatory or administrative investigations.
  • Mid-level positions: You are licensed to practice law in any European jurisdiction having min 5 years PQE, last 3 of which include regulatory or administrative investigations.
  • Seniorlevel positions: You are licensed to practice law in any European jurisdiction having min 7 years PQE, last 5 of which include regulatory or administrative investigations.
  • You have a law degree from an accredited European University.
  • You are licensed to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction.
  • Your regulatory investigation and/or e-Discovery experience must be acquired either in-house at a multi-national, at an international law-firm or at an EU, US or Member State regulatory agency.
  • The ideal candidates will have broad investigation experience and will be comfortable working on a wide array of Investigation projects.
  • You will need to operate effectively at all levels and juggle a variety of complex tasks, displaying excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • You must be able to work on your own initiative and be willing to pick up any regulatory Investigations task that’s thrown at you with a smile.
  • Fluency in the Englishlanguage is mandatory. Working knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
  • You must have demonstrated project management skills.
